Media Advocacy for Promote Local Economic and Trade

Transparency in Trade and Business Urged

Bogra, February 24:

Corruption and irregularity along with the dearth of information flow are main hindrances to the local trade and economic development. Therefore, speakers called upon the media people to play active role to focus on the potential trade and business issues and to ensure transparency in every nook and corner of trade and business sector.

Media leaders said it while speaking in an Advocacy Workshop with Media Owners on Role of Media in Promoting Local Economic and Trade Issues held at Community Development Library (CDL) conference room in Bogra today. With the support of European Union, mass communication oriented development organization CCD and EJ Net-Bogra organized this workshop.

Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University Dulal Chandra Biswas and Senior Faculty Member of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank A B Siddique attended the workshop respectively as chief discussant and moderator. Member Secretary of EJ Net Bogra Hasibur Rahman Bilu and Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai presented welcome address while Convenor of EJ Net Bogra Somudra Hoque was in the chair.

Among others, Editor of the daily Uttaranchal Robiul Hoque Khan, Joint Convenor of EJ Net Bogra Abdur Rahim Bogra, President of Joypurhat Press Club Prof Abul Hossain, Editor of the daily Nirbhor Abdul Matin Khan, Chief Reporter of the daily Karatoa  Prodip Bhattayarja Shankor, President of the Editorial Body of the daily Chandni Bazar Sagor Kumar Roy, Executive Editor of the daily Ichhamoti Mostafa satej, President of Sirajgonj District Journalists Forum Shahidul Islam Philips, President of Sirajgonj Reporters Unity Hirok Gun, Staff Reporter of the daily Manabjamin Amjad Hossain Mintu and Salma Sobhan-Channel I Fellow Selina Sheuly and Naogaon Correspondent of BTV Mamunur Rashid Babu took part in the discussion.

A large number of editors, executive editors, news editors and journalists’ leaders of Bogra, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Naogaon and Joypurhat actively took part in the workshop.
