Industries Demanded in Dinajpur
Dinajpur, 29 January:
Calling upon setting up of agro-based
industries in greater Dinajpur area, speakers said, the journalists and
media people have to highlight the potential economic and trade issues of
Dinajpur for its prosperity.
Mass
media and business leaders demanded it while speaking in an Advocacy
Workshop on Role of Media in local economic and trade development held at
Agriculture Training Centre in Dinajpur today. With the support of European
Union, mass communication oriented development organization CCD and EJ Net-Dinajpur
organized this dialogue. Editors, Executive Editors, News Editors of the
local and regional newspapers and Presidents and Secretaries of local press
clubs and media associations of Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and
Nilphamari actively took part in the workshop.
In the workshop, speakers said, it is easily
possible to build up profitable industries based on tea, silica, pebbles,
jackfruits, fine rice, lichi and mango in greater Dinajpur. Journalists have
to conduct media campaign and media advocacy to focus on these potential
industries, so that the entrepreneurs and policy makers can adopt necessary
initiatives for such industries.
Senior Faculty Member of Rajshahi Krishi
Unnayan Bank A B Siddique moderated the dialogue and Assistant Professor of
Mass Communication Department Dulal Chandra Biswas was the key-discussant in
the workshop. Member Secretary of EJ Net Dinajpur Shah Alam Shahi and
Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai presented welcome address while
Convenor of EJ Net-Dinajpur Nurul Huda Dulal was in the chair.

Talukder and Abdul Latif, Special Correspondent of the daily Uttora A H M
Abdul Bari, Executive Member of BFUJ Abdur Rahman, Acting Editor of the
daily Diganto Barta S M Khalequzzaman and Director of CCD G M Mourtoza took
part in the discussion.
