Dialogue
between Media and Trade Personnel Government Initiative and Cooperation Demanded for Lac and Silk Promotion Chapai
Nawabgonj, 25 March: Through the
development of lac and sericulture cultivation, not only poverty reduction
but also saving foreign exchange is possible in the country. That is why; to
promote lac and silk cultivation Government initiative and cooperation has
been demanded.
District
Correspondent of the daily Ittefaq Md Taslim Uddin and District
Correspondent of the Independent Motiur Rahman presented two reports
respectively on “Sericulture Promotion for Economic Development in Chapai
Nawabgonj: Problems and Potential” and “Lac Cultivation for Poverty
Reduction in Bangladesh”. Senior
Faculty Member of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank A B Siddique moderated the
dialogue. Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai presented welcome
address in the dialogue. Among
others, Former MP and President of Chapai Nawabgonj C&F Agent
Association Md Latifur Rahman, Assistant Professor of Economics Department
of Nawabgonj Government College Abdul Khalek, Farm Manager of Bangladesh
Sericulture Board Md Abul Quashem, Senior Scientific Officer of Lac Research

Md Jonab Ali and Networking Officer of CCD Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal addressed
the dialogue. A large number of journalists, business leaders and different
professional of Chapai Nawabgonj actively took part in the dialogue. Reconstruction
of Railway to Chapai Nawabgonj Demanded Chapai Nawabgonj, 28 March: In order to explore and utilize the huge potential of economic prosperity in Chapai Nawabgonj, famous for brass metal and mango, transforming Rohonpur rail port to a full fledged land port, setting-up agro-processing industries and reconstruction of railway up to Chapai Nawabgonj have been demanded. Mass media and business leaders said it while speaking in a dialogue on local economic, trade and business development held at Town Club Conference Room in Chapai Nawabgonj today. With the support of European Union, mass communication oriented development organization CCD and EJ Net-Chapai Nawabgonj organized this dialogue. Speakers also demanded immediate gas supply through pipe line to Chapai Nawabgonj for trade and industrial development here.
Associate Professor of Marketing Department of Rajshahi University Shah Ajom Shantonu moderated the dialogue. Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai presented welcome address in the dialogue while President of Chapai Nawabgonj Press Club Golam Mostofa Montu was in the chair.
