Dialogue
between Media and Trade Personnel Political
Commitment Inevitable for Economic Development Natore, January 12: Mass
media and business leaders stressed that political
commitment and tolerance are inevitable for economic
development of the country. They added, Natore is one of
the most potential areas for leather and molasses
industry in the country, but due to the lack of
necessary initiative and political commitment, this huge
potential is not being utilized properly.
With
the support of European Union, mass communication
oriented development organization CCD and Economic
Journalists Network (EJ Net)-Natore jointly organized
this dialogue. Fellows of EJ Net-Natore Al Mamun, Natore
Correspondent of the daily Amader Somoy and Zulfiquar
Haider Josef, Natore Correspondent of ATN Bangla
presented in-depth report on Problems and Potential of
Economic and Trade Activities in Natore and Prospect and
Potential of Leather Industry in Natore respectively.

District Leather Businessmen Association Aminul Islam
Ajom, President of Natore District Molasses Businessmen
Association Naosher Ali, Deputy Manager of BISCIC Bijon
Bihari Goldar, Deputy Director of Department of
Agriculture Extension Md Amanullaham, President of
Natore District Press Club Mahfuj Alam Moony and
President of Natore Press Club Rezaul Karim Khan took
part in the dialogue as panel discussant. Project
Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai, Natore Coordinator G
M Iqbal Hassan and Networking and Advocacy Officer Abu
Hena Mostofa Kamal presented welcome address in the
dialogue. Senior Faculty Member of Rajshahi Agricultural development Bank (RAKUB) Training Institute A B Siddiquee moderated the dialogue while Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University Moshihur Rahman criticized the reports from journalistic point of view. A large number of journalists of local and national newspapers and news agencies and business leaders actively took part in the dialogue.
