Journalists Training at Rangpur on Economic  and Trade Reporting

Gas Supply through Pipe Line to Rangpur Demanded

Rangpur, April 29: 

In order to promote economic development in Rangpur region, gas supply through pipe line should be implemented soon. In this regard, journalists along with the government and business leaders have to come ahead with priority.

Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Khandakar Atiar Rahman said it while addressing the closing and certificate giving ceremony of 5-day training course on local trade and economic reporting held in Rangpur Rotary Centre today. With the support of European Union, development organization CCD and Economic Journalist Network (EJ Net)-Rangpur jointly arranged this training course.

Speakers also said, Shtoranji, small cottage and handicraft products of Rangpur are very popular at home and abroad. But Monga-prone people are still getting no employment facilities for their livelihood. If gas is supplied through pipe line to this area, a large number of factories and industries could be established easily ensuring employment facilities for huge poor people. They also underscored promoting investment and entrepreneurship in tourism sector for economic development here.

President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mostafa Azad Chowdhury attended the function as special guest while Convenor of EJ Net-Rangpur and Bureau Chief of the daily Ittefaq and Channel One Md Wadood Ali was in the chair. The function was attended, among others, by Joint Convenor of EJ Net-Rangpur Aftab Hossain and Merina Lovely, General Secretary of Rangpur Press Club Rashid Babu, Member Secretary of EJ Net-Rangpur  Rafique Sarker and Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai.

Media Consultant of the Thomson Foundation Hazel Duffy, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University Shatil Siraj Shuvo, Senior Facultu Member of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) Training Institute A B Siddique and CCD Director G M Mourtoza conducted different technical sessions in the training course.

A total of 18 journalists of different regional and national newspapers working in rangpur took part in the course.
