Bogra to Revive as Most Potential Industrial Zone of North Bengal

Bogra, May 05: 

Bogra has to be made the most potential industrial zone of the northern region in Bangladesh. The government and business leaders have to play pioneering role in this respect.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) of Bogra Swapan Kumar Ghosh said it while addressing the closing and certificate giving ceremony of 5-day training course on local trade and economic reporting here today. With the support of European Union, development organization CCD and Economic Journalist Network (EJ Net)-Bogra jointly arranged this training course.

Speakers also said, since long Bogra is well known as industrial area, but due to the lack of farsightedness of the political and business leaders and dearth of government initiative the situation deteriorates. It is time to revive its lost glory of industrialization, because Bogra is the gate of northern region full of different natural resources. That is why; journalists are to play the inspiring role to promote more investment in this area, they added.

Presided over by Convenor of EJ Net-Bogra and Bureau Chief of Banglavision Abdu Rahim, the function was attended, among others, by Managing Director of Tazma Ceramic Industries Amjad Hossain Tazma, former Slama Sobhan-Channel I Fellow Selina Sheuly, Member Secretary of EJ Net-Bogra Hasibur Rahman Bilu and Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai.

Media Consultant of the Thomson Foundation Hazel Duffy, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Department of Rajshahi University Moshihur Rahman, Selim Reza Newton and CCD Director G M Mourtoza conducted different technical sessions in the training course.

A total of 18 journalists of different regional and national newspapers working in Bogra took part in the course.
